Does anybody know the name of the pipe section that fits in front of the catalytic converter? I have to go looking around for one. I am thinking used is OK. Appreciate any advice/recommendations on this. I was thinking of replacing the cat at the same time.
If you don't like the stock cat, at least replace it with a high-flow rather than tossing it completely. They aren't that restrictive, especially on an engine that pumps maybe 125cfm peak (stock). A seriously built E16 (95%VE at 7200rpm) wouldn't break 200cfm.

Yes I tried the straight pipe from the front to the muffler and it worked very nicely on another previous car. Unfortunately, though, the Sentra has to undergo emission tests next year.
Oh and I like the stock cat fine, but the lip connecting it to the exhaust tubing is wearing out, so I'll have to replace it sometime. The high-flow cat would match nicely to the high flow stainless steel exhaust system I have.
Just to update you, i picked up some new pipe (1 3/4") and I'll bring it into the shop to see if they can work with it.
if your serious about it...take the whole exhaust off, and it'll sound wicked....alot, unfortunatly, "ricers" do it...but hey, when you dont have alot, guess you make do with what you got
...anyways you could always just throw the whole thing on next year,
o and idk for sure but its probly just a summer thing, cuzz you might not wanna start your engine cold on a cold day with no exhaust...does anyone have insight on that matter?
