I feel really stupid and well scratch the bullshiiii*

the CAI will actually lose HP on my car ther eis no velocity change in the tubing and it gives me more volume than my car is tuned for so considering that .. the car wouldnt perform to its peak with any other kinda of intake than stock at this time..... you know i had a talk with my dad ( the head mechanical engeneer at VA power) and his friend ( a import autoxer and a drag racing fool with a 10 second 68 camero)...

they told me how i could make the engine better but for the time being and what i have the stock intake works great.. the engine has acutally been tuned realy well by Nissan to pull a good amount of power out of it already.

there is alot i could do to the engine that would be the right way but i do not have the time nore money nor tools to do it....

i cant believe i didnt realize all this untill now though.. and i dont have enough knowlege of this yet to actually start putting so called performance parts on the car.

this actually will send me 3 ways...... either i stick with the engine learn more about it the most i can learn and rebuild it and do all kinds of REAL engeneering with it .. with the help of engeneers.

or I will do an engine swap and try to use another well engeneered engine from nissan.......

or i will say forget it and drive it as a daily driver that handles amazing...

one more thing i forgot...... i could say F it all and sell the thing and buy a Jeep and stop thinking about speed

if you want me to explain in detail exactly what i meen about all this aim me LovesLostTime or just say so and ill type more and more but im sure some of the veterin auto tuners know what im talking about ...

That's a nice little thread you have going for yourself there. I have nothing else to say, because your first post makes very little sense. I think it's time for some sleep

first I think we need to learn how to spell "engineer" right. Then if I wanted a real world answer, I would strap it down to the dyno, do two pulls and compare the numbers.

my bad lol i was just so mad today I didnt even think anything of how I was spelling.

Well there will be alot more work into it to get any good results.

see two key things came up. velocity and volume more volume of air can lose velocity of air going into the intake which really doesnt help anything. it seems as though i would lose more than i would gain.

I trust the racer and My dad so im not going down the rd of the bottomless pit.

pinch a hose and the velocity of the substance flowing through it gets faster and more direct if its traveling at a fast enough speed.

its kinda like the intake on my buddies SC2 he has a hotshot CAI that is larger in the middle and end but when you get the the intake opening it reduces in size creating more velocity into the engine.

The metal on the intake considering its very thin acts as a heat sinc the way i had it set up so thats not good.... plastic is apealing to me more now too ... here is the scenerio ... heat up a metal tube to 130 then a plastic one to 130 leave them for 30 seconds in plain air .. the plastic would be jsut about normal temp again the metal would retain the heat...

im not saying that everyone needs to not use aftermarket intakes im saying this will not work for my engine and that my stock intake is set up and engineered itself pretty well.

The racer has offered to help me do some real mods to it and my dad has offered to make sure the computer paths and parts will work properly.

so we will all see it in time..

ive had my car dynoed b4 and for 178,000 on it
to only lose 10% through the drive train and everything thats still damn good

another piece of information while i was dynoing last year . i did a test with my intake off then another with it on .... the charts showed that with the intake i had better performance than without.

so those of you with certain mods double check them on the dyno they might actually be hurting the car.

the thing with the intake would be

1st: smaller diameter at less from adaptator to 4in from the tbi ???moslty...than grow the put your 3in filter...(to get velocity and speed)

2nd: have the adaptator in plastic or fiberglass to cut the heat from the intake... (anyway those TBI have Mixture Heater)

3rd: Make sure everything is plug where it should(temp sensor)
(vacuum lines closed the one left without the temp control switch from the factory intake)

Thats it... should be better ???????

Ive actually done alot of things on the drawing board..

and i apreciate all the help with it.

there are two routes to go. for me atleast

i really want to make somthing that every Ga16i owner can purchase so i want to do it right. Im trying to get a shop to make it. and you have brought up a good point get it made out of ABS or Fiberglass with a thick inner wall to cut down on the heat.
it may not be the prettiest but it can be painted

im looking for the highest pressure area too and the coldest air and i know jsut the place. Hopefully i can do it there.... right now i used my stock air box as an adapter and took the filter out and put half of the CAI on to extend the new filter bside the battery right next to the front of the fender opening behind the left head light to get the highest pressure and coldest air.. it sounds pretty nice with a deep tone but i dont feel much difference and i think thats because of the ridged plastic body on the box intake without the filter which is causeing it some turbulence..

i will take a pic and show you..

thoughts comments?
