well if you say that engines what you say it is...it doesnt leak any oil, it looks good and as clean as can be...do a compression and whatever other quick checks you can while your there...than buy it if it all checks out. chances are you may get lucky and have a gem...
as far as the tranny goes, im sure there are some quick checks you can do to be sure its good...i never got into that part of auto class before i started droping out

what you can always do is buy the tranny, and when you got it at home, separate the engine/tranny and chekc out the clutch and whatnot. if it aint good, well your j/y should have a return policy. if not, ask for one
just be sure not to clip the engine harness as you WILL need that later! your guna have to pull the dash to do that right...its really easy, like if you ever played with legos, built models, or mastubated it will be a snap!
keep in mind, your still guna want to tear it apart real quick-like and check the inside of the engine. so be sure to check out what you buy ASAP.
