electricity *pop* in dash....

On occasion I'll here a zap from behind the guage cluster... it seems to happen more often right after I turn the heater/air on or off... all my elecrical system works fine, I've checked most wires for continuity, all check out fine... any ideas? I'd think it was a short but everything works fine, it happens randomly also... not like hitting a bump and jarring the wire so it shorts....hmmm....

i concur . Pull the dash apart and start looking for frays, shorts, or worn wires. Also check all of the switches. Make sure all the fuses you have are the correct rating too.

Mine did the same, a Nissan dealership said it was a relay firing for the HVAC system. Seemed weird to me, but If there was a short, a fuse would pop.

Not always... it depends where the short is... if it's before the fuse in the circuit... there will be no fuse failure... just a potential for wire smoking!... lol

Seemed weird to me, but If there was a short, a fuse would pop.

Very true. Didn't think about that, but i'm pretty sure most wires behind the insrtument cluster are from the fuse box. Sometime wires will short before the fuse box and pop a fusible link inside the engine compartment. That's a pain in the ass to figure out.
