CAI 1988 sentra xe

They dont seem to make a cold air intake for the 88 (just 89's and up), so i was wondering if anyone had any information on how to custom build/install or modify one? Or is just too hard for some reason?

Thanks a lot

Nopes never heard of one, but have tried to use that aluminum flexible exhaust tubing for the house (3 inch dia). Connected to the airboxes inlet and the other side to a hole cut in the plastic in the front of the car below the bumper. I just tried to get colder air to get into the airbox. Not much difference from stock though.

But now:
If you got the same darn flat cylindrical airbox as I in the E16i engine, then what I did was just flip the top cover thus allowing there to be air entering all round the air filter. Noticably more air gets in, not cold air, but better than just the small inlet.

Sorry to bump this, but when yall are recommending the K&N filter, are you just talking about this?

(for a regular air filter, not cai)

heres a conversation i had with someone about a CAI...he sent me this pm...

"It cost me $10.00 CDN for the ABS plastic and extra fittings for intake hoses and $35 CDN for the filter. I would like to get a K&N filter later when I changed it to cold air intake."

so i guess if your talented enough you could go down to The Homo Depot and pick up some parts there and make one...

I think the only intake mod that would make much difference for the amount of cash spend would be a ram air style induction. I though someone around here was gonna try it.

Well at least you can wake up in the morning happy to a B12. A hood scoop would be a bonus. "My car just like to think she has balls "

So it was you that was gonna experiment with it. I actually thought of doing it to my Grand Prix just outta sheer bordom. Ya know, bump the hp form 130 to around 140. Gotta love 190lbft torque though. I need to put a CAI on this damn thing.

FYI, the 2.8 only makes 160lb-ft of torque.
