okay, here's the deal...i burned a cd and went to play it in my car to see if it worked. i don't think the cd was complete or it was bad or was made incorrectly because my cd player did not read it and spit it back out. my cd is fully capable of playing cd-r's and has before. ever since then it has been spitting out any cd i put in, even the regular ones. eventually i bought a new head unit and hooked it up, but the new one does the same thing. sometimes it does not even take the cd in. so my question is what is causing this. i thought my it was my old head unit, but could it be the wire harness, or something in the car? what could the cd-r have done to cause this to happen? any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanx!
I experienced the same problem ± 2 weeks ago while washing my car. I played the cd and after about 2hrs it just spit the cd out I tried again and it spit it out again and again. When I tried to start the car I found that my battery was low and had to jumpstart my car , after a few minits the headunit took the cd's again and played it.

Does it just spit it out, or show an error code on the display? E-5 is a bad CD, wether scratched, dirty, or not finalized. E-77, buy a new headunit, or have it service, it's bad.

yeah, i thought of that. because when i played it in my cd player in my house the same thing happened. so i unplugged it and tired it again at it worked. and then on my car, i unhooked the neg cable and hooked it back up again, but it still did not work properly. i mean, i don't think my battery's low, everything else in the car is working fine at full power and i see no signs of low power. no trouble starting it or anything. i dunno...
well, the old cd player i had in, yeah it had err and spit it back out. then afterwards every cd i put in either was just spit back out or had err. i did get a new head unit and when i put that one in, the cd did not go all the way in, and when one did it would just be spit back out. everything works, the radio, cd changer, all the buttons and functions work as with the one i had in there originally except it will not take cd's. i have put cd's in before and gotten "err", but it never continued to spit EVERY cd out burned or not. that is why i am baffled? i guess i should just take it into a shop and have them look at it. thanks for your posts!
Does your sound seem fine? Try using a different CD. If you sound seems like crap, I am right about the common ground wiring, which can fry the circuitry in a headunit and damage speakers.

something's got to be fried. i don't remember which err number i got with the old one, but the sound is great. everything works on it except the head unit cd player playing cd's. that's why i thought it might be something with the harness or something with the car. because neither the new nor the old one accepts cd's...that's too much of a coincidence. i have tried just about every cd in my repertoire and nothing takes. i must have blown something with the old one...but i have no idea what. i'm going to try both cd players in another car...and if they work then it's obviously a problem with the wiring and not the units...
Just for further test, why not even try the CD-R to someone elses car. Only worry is, their cd player might end up like yours. BTW does the radio works?
i've thrown that cd away a while ago because it was bad. all my other cd's since have worked in my changer and my house stereo. i'm going to test both cd players on someone's car that has a wire harness already in it to see if it is in fact that i just have two bad cd players or if it's something else. because it could just be a bad coincidence. yeah, the radio works...everything on the head unit works except the cd player. i'll post the results after i do it, thanks for all your input!!
