drastic scary power loss!!!!
ok i am starting to get this problem alot mroe frequently and its worrying me now. i think my b12 is dying.
on the freeway, (always the freeway) my car will loose what feels like a ton of power and go between hesitating, and DRASTIC hesistating!!!!(feels like a low rpm bog,but at arond 4000rpm) start to loose speed, and if i give it gas, it will sort of go away, but then with the same amount of pedal angle, it starts doing it agian....very sparadically. sometimes, this is accompanied by a check engine light. but not always. i changed the fuel filter, plugs, everything. it feels as tho ignition timming or something is getting drastically reatarded. i thought my cam timming could be off a tooth soem how, but i dont know why it would feel fine sometimes and bad others. i am leaning towards a new motor anyways(still cant find my ca18de) but, this one has to last me until then...any help would be greatly appricaited thanks,
MIKE
btw its an 89 se with 276k on it...

(yea i know over at dseries.org i hate answering the same damn question over and over)...thanks tho guys, MIKE
Sounds like the same symptoms others with AFM probs have experienced. From what I gather from your posts, your car is in pretty good shape and well tuned so I'd look into the AFM for starters.

Check your ECU for error codes. That'll tell you if there's a problem in the emissions or other electrical components. A quick way to see if it's your afm is to have the car running and start playing with the wires and do a visual inspection of the ones connecting to the afm to see if it's a lose or corroded connection, however it could be that your afm has just pooped out.

ecu code check?
thanks guys...btw how do i check the ecu(this isnt in my manual conveintly), i know how to do it on my civic(lol) but im sure its different on here...run that by me if you will...thanks again.
Pull it out from under the passenger seat. You have to turn a switch/turny thingy one way, and then all the way the other direction. Not sure, dad tossed my haynes (i'm very, very pissed off). Two lights will then light up, a red and green. Use that to figure out which code it's spitting out. If it's code 13 if i'm not mistaken, it's fine. When my AFm went out, it spit out just one code, which said everything was right, but then again I had horrible corroded wires.
