I know 2.5" is too big, but is 2 1/4" too big? I thought the general consensus was that 2" was the best size for a 4 cylinder engine. What are your opinions on this?
2.0" for sure. Our engines don't breath as much as the GA16DEs do so 2.0" should be sufficiant.

I had read somewhere that 2 1/4" is the best for the GA16i, but only if you pretty much have an open intake. I had the 2 1/4", but I also had a friend advance my timing. If you advance the timing, have a pretty much opwn intake, I'd go with the 2 1/4". If you just want a larger exhaust and leave it like that, go for the 2". 2 1/4" you'll loose some bottom end torque. I didn't mind that as I never shifted below 4500rpm.
