Cat is smelling bad lately...thinking of trying this

I've been thinking that maybe the cat is on it's last legs. The exhaust the last couple weeks is just plain rank smelling. Thinking about cutting the cat out and replacing it with a short glasspack. Indiana doesn't inspect cars and a glasspack would keep the car at a decent noise level instead of putting a piece of pipe in where the cat used to be. Plus, it would be a whole lot cheaper. I know a lot of import guys have cut their cats and used either glasspacks or resonators inplace of the cat. What do you guys think about this? Please, no tree-hugger comments.

BTW, I have a Pacesetter cat-back (actually more like an axle-back since it starts over the rear axle)

u could get a a universal high flow cat from ur local autoparts store for about 80 bucks. personally i dont think glasspacks last long enough for u to put it in place of a cat and it might hurt more than help. secondly, dude u leave in indiana; salt , snow, yada, yada :.)

I'd definately hollow out the cat. If you can, do like I did and run straight through exhaust, i.e. eliminate the cat.
