CA18DET swap information
Everyone will jump on me and tell me to search. I have, and all the information on this site is incomplete, misleading, or way too old. The link to the PDF file that many threads point to is broken.
I am thinking about buying an NX SE with a blown engine at a dirt cheap price. Since there aren't many good DE motors available in scrap yards I figure I might as well go with the DET from some JDM engine supplier. So, here are my questions:
1. I live in the northeast, what are some good CA18DET suppliers that I can trust?
2. How difficult is the swap mechanically?
- Does the stock CA18DE tranny mate with the CA18DET? (pretty sure this is a yes)
- Are there components from the DET that may be missing or I will need to purchase before the swap?
3. How difficult is the swap electronically?
- Do sensor connectors just plug right in?
- Are there additional or missing sensors on the DET?
- Use the JDM ECU directly, reprogram the stock ECU, use a piggyback (S-AFC, etc)?
Any links or additional information is greatly appreciated, and I will continue to search the net, this forum, and nissanexa.com.
