I'm trying to rig something up with an aircleaner from a late 80's Honda that has a long plastic tube coming off of the snorkel.
I got the end of a similar setup from an old Mecury Grand Marquis that I'm trying to modify to fit the Honda tubing and then place it right underneath the front bumper. I'll post some pics later.

i wish i can do the same setup, i have a carb on the very top of my engine and it a BIG problem to install a aftermarket intake on it since there hardly and room to run the tubing. i have a setup that im going to tryout later on to see if it work, it mainly a 90 degree bend off the carb (hopefully) and a flexible tubing that (hopefully) will run to an open area near the front of the car away from the engine and radiator...... (hopefully)

You could do the exact same set-up, I have an 83 Pulsar. Just start scrounging your local junkyard. That's how I found stuff to do mine.

take a look at my car domain page. my engine is TBI, but should be almost the same as your carb setup. height is definitely a concern. Mine just fits. I actually had to trim a little bit of hood bracing away, but she fits just fine. I am eventually planning to install a K&N Apollo setup with a low mounted cold air pickup.

K i finally install the intake on my car and it work for a while but the car cant idle to long. I notice that there a exhaust hose that was connected to the air cleaner, do i need to reconnect that to the new intake to keep the car idling smoothly again?

Not this time of year no. That's the carb pre-heat hose. Helps the carb warm up a bit in cold conditions. Shouldn't affect how it runs in the least.

Unfortunately, my car is a Canadian model and doesn't have the computer controlled carb, so in that respect I can't offer any advice. I think I've got a vaccuum hose diagram at home I could scan and send to you.
