Hey guys, first post and I need a hand in finding out what may be wrong with the Tacho in my car. To cut a long story short , it stopped working. What wires would i need to check to try and find the problem. (the tacho is a factory built job in the dash.)

On the back of the gauge cluster there is a white clippy thing that has voltage regulators (transistors) in it. This clippy thing regulates the tach/fuel/temp gauges. Also you may want to see if the coil on the tach melted through the plastic guide. I have to replace the tach and this regulator when my alternator went along with tons of other electronics...

Thanks Chris, I have since found that the tacho works intermittently. The rest of the guages appear to be working ok. I found a manual online that showed the tacho as using a brown wire from the distributor / regulator? and will check this for a break or dirty contacts.
