I have an e16i motor on a nissan sunny.
1. When is cold the motor start good, but when is warm he don't start, if I press the accel. pedal at a half it's start and it's going well. On the exhaust go out a funny gaz small.
2. Same times when is cold he start and after 2 sec. he stops.
3. I see the ECU 3 modes, and I have error 21-ignition signal.
4. I change the ECU with an other e16i and i don't have any good, the same problem. In ECU 3 mode I have 44- no problem found
3. What is mode 1-2-4-5 to this ECU, can same one tell me?
4. It's posibile to be may mixture too rich, the problem, my sparks it's smokee.

Warm starting problem is likely Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS)
if the CTS goes bad it can tell the engine to put too much fuel in when warm, because it thinks the engine is still cold.
If this doesn't fix the problem let us know

Thank's for the answer. I check the CTS, and may be it's my problem, because when I start the first time he warming up slowly ant then colant temp. indicator go too aprox. maximum on the left side and then he come back at the midle.

I change the CTS with a new one, and nothing. The old one from the other car is not fit.

I think on your engine there are 3 CTS.
One for the gauge, one for the ECU, and one for the cooling fan. (Maybe you changed the wrong one?)
If you got a code 21 Ignition Signol, it also could be the CAS (Crank Angle Sensor) or ignition module inside the distributer housing is going bad.
The thing with the temperature going to maximum then back to normal, could be from low coolant, or air bubbles. You can bleed the system to make sure that there are no bubbles. Also the thermostat could be getting stickey, and is taking a little longer to open.
Next you should check the O2 (oxygen) sensor, and MAF (mass air flow) sensors. They also tell the computer what the mixture should be, but don't usually have your simptoms when they go bad.

I changed the CTS on the manifold, the coolant was changed last mont in the service, and when I have a max. temp. the radiator cooler is not working. But when is hot out side he start working, i thing it is good.
I check the distributor, and cleaned up. Now I don't have any problems on ECU error mod (44=no problem found).
