87 Sentra Heater Core

Any of you good folks ever replaced a heater core in 87 Sentra? I'm almost there but the center heat duct is giving me a big headache. Thanks in advance.

I did it on a 1989 Sentra.

It was a Royl PITA, I had to remove the entire dash assembly, and part of the steering column to get the air ducts out of the way to remove the heater assembly. I also remember a bar that was spot welded in place that was very much in the way, so I bent is slightly to make everything go a little easier. There also was a problem with some of the lower structural bracing was removed with 10mm head self-tapping sheetmetal screws, and stripped the threads off 2 of them when re-installing.

I think it took me about 8 hours to do it along with aching back busted knuckles and a many of choice words under my breath

I hope some of this might help, but probbaly not since I never found a "easier way"

Bob

Thank you Bob VERY much for your information. You have confirmed my suspicions about finishing this project and the ductwork is my final stumbling block. Hmmm... this may be a good project for my paid mechanic but I'll see how it goes.
