I'm sure this'll be moved soon, but I'll ask here anyway.
I'm getting ready to replace my crappy factory radio (AM/FM receiver only) and blown, original speakers. I know it's important when conecting the speakers to match the positive line to the positive terminal and negative line to negative terminal, but I don't know which one is which. Before I go scanning the wiring scematics for this info, do any of you know right off which wires are which?
Also, do any of you have the antenna that is painted on to the inside surface of the rear window (like the rear window defroster)? My car has both the post antenna (long rod sticking up from the rear 1/4 pannel) and the rear window antenna. But the rear window antenna on mine is not connected. I'm thinking that the original rear window broke at some time and a previous owner replaced it with one that had the window antenna. I'd like to connect it and remove my post antenna, but I don't know how to connect it. Any thoughts?
You can get an adaptor at like best buy for your radio. It just plugs in and then goes into your new head unit so you dont have to do any cutting yourself.
Also i believe the wires with the stripes are the negative for the door speakers. I could be wrong tho. But usually the connection only fit on one end of the speaker.. liek the ground wont fit onto the power terminal.

Welcome to the world of headaches.
Yeah, an adaptor would be nice. I was just thinking of cutting & splicing the wires for the head unit, but that'd be a headache to say the least. I'll check out best buy for one. Thanks for the advice.
Save yourself the trouble! The factory wiring is no good for high output applications! Run your own standalone wiring, if you are running amps, I would reccomend at least 4awg for power wire. You can run it right thru the driver's side fender, thru the grommet inside the door, down and out the "kickpanel" on the drivers side, and under the carpet to the backseat- you can figure out the rest- it's really not that hard, I used a wire coat hanger to "pilot" the route thru the fender, and duct taped the power wire to that and pulled it right thru.
The stock wires are more than thick enough for your door speakers. The power wires for the deck should also have no problems. I install decks for a living, and we've never encountered a car with too thin of wiring, or a deck with too high of a draw to just hookup to the factory wiring. While the wire in the dash may seem small, it's not traveling all that far, like it would for a trunk mounted amplifier.
Thanks, guys. I've actually been sick the last few days with some sort of sinus infection and high fever so I haven't been able to tackle any of my Sentra projects. I was able to get out there today with a wiring schematic diagram and worked out what wires were positive and negative. It turns out the factory speakers have "+" and "-" marked on the posts so I was able to see which wires were positive and negative. All of the wires had stripes on them so I couldn't use that as an indicator, it's a good thing the speakers had markings to follow. I'm not concerned about power loss, it's just an inexpensive Jensen head receiver/CD player that cranks out only 30 watts per channel. Anything I put in there now will be 3,000,000,000,000% better than what's in there now. The factory radio has met the end of its usefull life. I'm afraid to touch the volume controll in fear that it will quit working again. Thanks again though. If I need more help, I'll let you all know.
Sorry if I seemed to ramble in this post. I'm not sure if I'm completely over the fever yet.
I had a problem installing it though. I think someone messed up at the factory with the wiring. Both wiring diagrams I have show the wire from the ignition switch as being solid red. I tried to get power from the only solid red wire in the harness for about 3 hours until I accidentally touched a brown wire and got the ignition swithable power.
