I was coming home from class last night at like 9 o'clock when this punta started tailgating me. She followed me for about half a mile and when I stopped to make a left turn she rammed from behind. She said that she "didn't see me stopped in the middle of the road" She also had a "restricted" liscence when she's 20...so she probably just lost it all together. I ended up driving it 15 minutes home, it still runs and drives great (apart from the muffler that ripped off). anyway I'm trying to figure out what to do with this car. It's a 4wd sentra wagon. The tranny shifts like butter and the transfer case is in perfect together along with all the other 4wd components. The car it's self was rusting underneath and so fourth but mechanically it ran like a dream. So the question now is: What do I do now with the car? Either way I know i'm going to buy it back from Progressive, but should I:
-Part out the car and sell the drivetrain on e-bay?
-do the unspeakable and swap the drivetrain into a sedan or coup?
-sell the car as is to someone around here?
I think it looks kinda cool how it is. Looks kinda like an AMC Gremlin to me
If someone is willing to give me a good price PM me. It sucks because It has 2000 miles on the rebuilt lower-end. The engine has about 117,000 on the clock I've put a lot of work into the car. the engine has great compression, it doesn't leak a drop of oil. About a year ago my car overheated and the head warped. I replaced the headgasket and the head from a junkyard with like 160,000 miles on it.

Oh man that sucks
It looks like it was a nice b12, I think you should put the 4WD setup into a 2 or 4 door sedan. If I didn't live so far away I would love to buy the drive train for playing around.

Sorry to see a 4WD wagon get damaged. Of the three choices, I would pick the second one. Do the unthinkable!
It's an 1988 with on the fly 4wd. Hey Mike, I live in ithaca, it's like 3 hours from you. You interested? or know anyone who would be? I'm not out to make a profit, I just wanna see whats left put to good use. Total loss doesn't have to mean total waste.
I was just at the rental place and they told me that the girl who hit me came in earlier but her insurence company wouldn't cover the cost. Serves her right . I get a chevy cavalier for 5 days...yay.

Sounds like you've had one too many again tonight....
Anyway, sorry, I should have mentioned that in my first post. I'm located in Ithaca, New York. It's central New York, 1 hour south of syracuse and 3 hours away from buffalo and albany. Sounds a bit outta your area. I'd really like to see the whole 4wd system go together because it's so rare and I know it's near impossible to find specific parts....unless your blown310

1: A 1994 corsica 3.1 v6 for 350$ which leaks coolant (I smell a blown head gasket...appharently it's common on these engines) I'm looking at the car tommorow at 10am. comes with studded snows. anyone have any suggestions as to any other problem spots on these cars that I should look at?
I hate corsicas by the way, but hey it'll get me from point A to B
2: a 1994 VW Jetta 5 speed with 169,000 miles. I love jettas and I know the mark III's like the back of my hand. Problem is that it's 1,500$. It comes with both snow and summer tires on seperate rims. The sunroof is broken but a 20 minute trip to the junkyard should fix that. Hopefully the body is gonna be clean on it. I'm going to check this jetta out today or tommorow.
Sucks being a student. I'm going to be going through 4x4 withdrawl pretty soon here. I really wish I could find another 4x4 sentra.

DO NOT BUY THE CORSICA!!! Head gaskets on the LHO engines are the least of your worries. Injecters are a know problem, and they cost about $53 a piece!! I have presonally replaced over 15 sets of injectors on these motors and the LB6 2.8L (same motor) for people. Not to mention the bottom end on the LHO is notoriously weak. They like to chew up main bearings. Too much stroke for the shitty bearings to handle. Also, the EPA ratings for gas mileage on the LHO is only 13 city and 19 highway, and that is no joke. Replacing the head gasket will very rarely solve your problem, as the aluminum head ends up warping or cracking about 90% of the time, thanks to the motor running so hot (235 degrees before the fans kick on). Replacing the motor as a whole also requires you do drop the entire front K-member and remove it through the bottom.

wow...I knew corsica's sucked but i'm even suprised by that info. Buying that car is a disaster in the making it sounds like. I'm seriously considering this Volkswagen. I drove by the guy's house today and it looked really clean from the road. I guess we'll see how it drives tommorow, they're notorious for 2nd gear grinds and their reverse idler gears failing. I'll heed your warning on the corsica.
Thanks!

Check the motor mounts on that VW. They are nutorious for rusting off. Brother in law lost his whole engine while driving down the road. (VW rabbit, salty Chicago roads.) The car was about 6 years old.

No problem man. Most people think these older GM's with V6's are good, but they are POS's waiting to happen.
