Hi There,
I just purchased a 88 Nissan Pulsar and the brake lights do not work. I was told this could be a fuse. The turn signals work, the back up lights work and the driving night rear lights work, but the brake lights do not. Did anyone have this problem? Is it a fuse under the dash or a fuse somewhere else.
Thanks.. I would appreciate any feedback. I love my car.

Where in NY are you?
I have an 88 Pulsar as well. Have you checked the brake switch on the pedal?

Hi; Congrats on the Pulsar, and as a fellow Pulsar owner, I know how ya feel. Go ahead and check your fuses, check the switch located on the brake pedal bracket, your bulbs (Ya never know...), and finally...your wiring. While you're at it, check (And possibly clean) those 3 terminals on the rear hatch and sill. If nothing more, then you could be in for rewiring the brake lights. Not all that hard if you got some background, but do the checks first. Keep checking in, and best of luck!

if all other lights work it is more than likely the brake switch that went out it is under the dash attatched to the brake pedal and should not be more then 20 bucks to replace.

Check out my "Lets go racing" post. I have some leftover parts including a sportback, if interested PM me
Hiya, Goodwrencher; I'll pass on the Sportbak because I'm not too wealthy anymore after returning from Alberta, and I just got a lot on the ol' plate at present. We'll see about other parts as we go, 'K? Thanks...

How would you suggest cleaning those terminals? My 89 hatch switch is not quite responding and I end up having to use the key.
When I pull the switch to the left of the drivers seat the hatch does not pop. Then I go to the back of the car to open the trunk and can't pull it open. I end up having to us my key. That lever is supposed to make it open automatically right? I was curious how I would go about cleaning the terminals to start the troubleshooting process. I believe that the contacts may be the problem

I've ohmed out my current switch and hooked up my new one and nothing I am probably going to have to chase the wires but I want to make sure there is nothing else I can do prior to running down the wires. Is there a relay or anything like that in there that could be bad. I'm disgruntled as all heck.
