Help, I got a mess.

Hello,

I recently purchased a 90 Pulsar NX. This is the first import I have ever owned. When I was younger I was a hotrodder and restored many GM cars so decided this was too good a deal to pass up and "I can restore it", Wow what a reality check. This site has been extremely valuable already and thank you to everyone. Now for my problem

When I purchased the car it had a old stereo in it (not stock). It worked but not very well so decided I could get me a new one and put it in. This has been 3 days of heck.
1. I got a mess of wires. (I think i have tracked down my speaker wires) I downloaded the wire guide I found on this site but my wires dont seem to be the same.

2. At the same time all this was going on my dash lights went out. Now when I put the power antennae wire to a certain wire the dash lights come on but want turn off with the headlights.

3. I think i have a stock power amp under the passener seat but not sure and think that might be some of my problem

4. The antennae (after buying a adapter) doesnt seem to find channels while i have the stereo on search.

5. Does the antennae act as ground on a import

Just to let you know. the new stereo lights up.

Im sorry these questions seem so basic but I really feel ignorant on this matter and Im starting to get really frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Chuck

don't do anything to the box under ther seat, it's your computer! Your car will = death without it. What's the link to wiring diagram? or the title of the thread it's in?

hmmmm does the Pulsar go by any other name/model? b/c i was looking on the12volt.com and they don't even have a Pulsar or NX listed...

i know some imports ground through the chassis, meaning that u have to screw the radio in for it to work. is the antenna power? I really doubt that the stereo and dash are going to ground through the antenna. actually the power antenna wire is a +12v so it wouldn't be ground. there must be a loose/wrong connection in the wire harness or something i just checked and the harness is the NWH-700, that works for all Nissans up until '95 so maybe u might wanna try getting a new harness and see if that works *shrugs* wait....is there even a stock harness in there? or are the wires all cut?

other than that, check ur fuses. u may have blown the fuse to the dash lights while working on the stereo...it happens.....

The wires are cut, were cut when i got it, and I didnt really pay enough attention to the wires as i disconnected them (brain fart) so i goofed there. I have checked all the fuses and dont seem to find any burnt, The speakers do work hooked my kids boom box up and they do play so i know now its not a amp anywhere. Now I went and returned the CD player and got another one just in case its defective. I have 3 hot wires and 2 hot accessories wires. Thats seems to be my problem. I think Im trying to try one thing at a time. So another call HELP... THANKS for any info possible.
