second battery

I'm looking into adding another battery and had some questions. Is anyone here familar with efx batteries? Well they have four models a 680, a 925, a 1200 and a 1700, each model corresponding to it's cranking ability hence 925 has 925 cranking amps, which one of these would be best for a second battery? Secondly, they have a one and two hundred amp battery "contactor". Which one of these is more appropriate? http://www.scosche.com/efx/products/...tors/PMBC.asp, lastly has anyone done this in a b14? I'm assuming that the amp will charge both batteries right? anybody have an instructions on how it would be hooked up, suggestions on what guage power wire. I have a cap rated to 1000 watts, but my amp has a max of 1400, and yes I can reach it, the efficiency rating is pretty high and it's a decent amp so it's drained some of my first battery and my lights are no still dimming. Any help would be greatly appreciatiated. Thanks.

Hum, why do you need a second battery?
If your lights are dimming get a compositor.
And if you want just get a better alternator.
I don't here people getting two batteries for there car unless your running some REALLY big stuff. I've seem people with Huge systems in there B14 that only have one battery.

I have an EFX 925 Drycell in my trunk. It's awesome, I can run my 1200 rms amp and 2 12" Solobaric L7's for well over an hour before it even drains the EFX battery and starts drawing from my primary battery under the hood. It's also very small, and comes with a mounting cage that you can bolt into the trunk to stop the battery from sliding around. My headlights dont dim when the bass hits either, although you might want to consider an isolator and a cap to be safe.

We have a 4 gauge power wire running from the battery under the hood to the efx battery in the trunk, then a 4 gauge power wire running from the efx battery in the trunk to the fuse box, and then from the fuse box to the amp. both batteries will have to be grounded individually, my efx battery is grounded to the trunk floor using a 4 gauge wire as well although you should run a 0 gauge. This way my batteries are run in series and can draw off of eachother. The downside to doing this is you WILL need to buy a more powerful aternator or have yours rewound eventually, because it will be working twice as hard to charge both batteries. The upside is you eliminate for the most part headlight dimming and you have a second battery at all times in the event that one fails, you can still start the car off of the second one.

Like I said I have the 925 cold cranking amp EFX battery, it runs about 120 at the shops, but you can probably find it cheaper than that.
