Talking My new system =)

Just finished the install lastnight!

2 Kicker Solobaric L7 12" subs in a custom enclosure, powered by a Kicker 1200.1 Monoblock Class D Amplifier wired into a second drycell car battery in the trunk thats wired in series with the battery under my hood, with a JVC Kameleon Head Unit (The middle model without the Voice Recognition)

The speakers are dual 4ohm's run in parallel to 2 ohms then run in parallel again back down to 1 ohm.

It kicks so hard I can't breathe when its cranked =D. Tomorrow I go out to buy a dynamat trunk kit to fix the mad rattle, and a 250 watt amp to power my Sony Xplode mid range installed all the way around (They tend to get drowned out by all the bass now). Probably gonna replace the Xplodes with MB Quarts or Kickers eventually.

These Square subs hit like the next sound range up, cause of the added cone surface due to the square design, so people have started assuming that I have dual 15's in the trunk, and one guy thought I was running 18's lol. I set car alarms off from 3 car lengths away.

The best part about it is I got EVERYTHING for 800 bucks installed. The amp alone is 830 bucks and 350 bucks per speaker retail. Gotta love having friends work in the local stereo shop. Now that I have the system I can start building baffles for the custom Fiberglass trunk enclosure I put off due to lack of specs on the speakers. Glad I waited, I never would have assumed that I'd be putting square subs in and we'd have had problems hehe.

I see you did what we all warned you about and made a visit to California, well if you're happy with it, thats cool, but I can tell you from a lot of experience with car audio that you would have been better off at Performance. The guy's there at Ca aren't that great at shit, and fucked up a whole load of shit they did on my car. but its too late now

I didnt go through California, We did it in the garage of a friends house who has a lot of experience with installs. I've seen him swap out systems in his car more often than Heath changes his underwear =D. He bought the parts from California originally, but they didnt touch my car, didnt even look at it, cause I never had to go there. After rebuilding the box that came with the system that they DID build, I would say yes they suck hehe. There was more liquid nails than MDF used on this box, but we cleaned it up nicely after about 2 hours of measuring and using a skill saw and hammer to hack it apart. Its a pretty clean install, all of the wiring is hidden from view, the only thing we had to modift on the original car was on the head unit wiring harness we had to clip a blue wire with a white stripe to splice the the wire used to turn the amp on with the deck. Other than that nothing was done that cant be undone in 30 minutes short of the new hole in my firewall we used to run the power lead from the first battery to the second dry cell battery. It's not the cleanest install in the trunk but none of that matters cause ill be ripping it all out to make measurements and start building the housings for my custom trunk enclosure anyhow. I just wanted it set up so it didnt look too bad, and so that I could listen to it while im building the baffles used in the new enclosure.
