Kenwood KDC 222 problem

For some reason my Kenwood KDC 222 in my 89 Nissan Truck resets each time I turn off the ignition. For example if I save a preset while driving and then turn the ignition off, it will reset all the settings when I turn the truck on again. This means that EQ , clock, presets etc. are not saved. Any idea why it's doing this?

Look into the constant 12 volt wire, its probably not getting power. Its usually yellow. Make sure that it isn't on switched power.

I don't have any of the manual(s) for the system. Do I have to remove the whole system out of the dash?

Yes, and you'll probably need a voltmeter to test the line as well.
