High Pitched Squeal Sound

Okay when I have my amp on, I get a high pitched squealing noise from my sound system... I have 2 12" kickers and an MTX amp. My HU is a Pioneer and so are all of my speakers. What is causing this?

Sounds like an alt whine. This is usually caused by a bad ground or too long a ground cable. Where is your amp grounded to? didja remove all the paint before you bolted it down? If you have like an electronic eq or something, make sure its grounded to the same point the amp is. The stereo and amp don't need to be grounded at the same point, but soemthing like two amps mounted close to each other should be grounded at the same point. Check your ground and make sure its secure and tight. Good rule of thumb is ground cable should be no longer than 3 feet.

as i recall sr20demon saying(i think thats his name), if you ground all the way back to the battery, you need a bigger gauge wire than what you would normally need. So if you needed atleast 4 gauge to the amps, you needed to go 2 gauge both ways(ground and positive) to avoid the huge voltage drop caused by the smaller wire but longer path. So i donno. Maybe a short ground to the chassis would work better.
