New classifieds

We're in the process of phasing out the existing classified ads setup. It's not very efficient or organized. There's also not much that can be done to improve the current classifieds without physically modifying the forum software. What we have chosen to do instead is replace the existing For Sale and Want to Buy forums with an independent classified ads system.

We have purchased a license for Photopost Classifieds, which was developed by the same people who wrote the software we're using for the gallery. At this point we have both classified ads systems running side by side to give everyone a chance to look things over and report any problems or suggestions. Once this "trial phase" is over the current For Sale and Want to Buy forums will be closed to new threads and removed 30 days later.

The For Sale and Want to Buy forums are now closed to new ads. Both will remain open as archives for another 30 days to give the buyers & sellers time to complete their sales, but afterwards they will be deleted. Replies to existing ads may still be posted, but new ads should be posted in the new classifieds section.

It seems to be very slow. But other than that, I like it.

I'm not liking it because its putting the most viewed at the top. So when a new ad is posted it is sent to the LAST page, not the new page on the top.

another thing I don't like is when Im looking for parts for my sentra I look in OEM for the pieces that I'd like, and aftermarket for the parts that I want. Maybe seperating it like the car catagories would be better IE:
Sentra parts
240sx parts
ect
then a general parts for parts that will fit multiple (wheels, ect)

just a suggestion on other ways to do it.

Good suggestions. I definitely will look into sorting ads by date instead of view.

I'm undecided about adding another dozen categories to have separate areas for each model.

what I was suggesting is get rid of OEM and aftermarket and break it down into the cars they fit on and general. Just suggestions though, your site, just throwing some ideas up there.

I know i don't participate much in them, but i really don't like the new classified setup. Could we seperate it by vehicle maybe? Sentra, Altima, Z, Truck/SUV, and other?
