I heard a lot of complaining about ads and pop ups. There are a few tool out there to stop pop up ads. I use POP-Up Stopper Free addition.
For the NF staffing
Ads are fine so long as they're not to distracting. Opeing up the flood gates and allowing too much ads will cause problems. This can be a fine line for NF if the ads are there only source of revenue.
The site was going haywire, of course traffic is going to go up, people are checking in to see if there are any new developments and to find out what's going on.
As far as "whiners," you sir, with all due respect, must be new to internet forums. People are always whining and complaining, that's the nature of the internet. Its VERY easy to complain and be opinionated when you have a digital cloak.
I agree! The whiners have a good reason to whine. This forum has hit rock bottom because of all the knowledgable people are leaving. Maybe if you fix the forums back like they were, I and some other people MIGHT come back.

not to cause trouble but there has been a number rise in members like whats been discussed earlier but that is from members of other forums on AF there is a huge number of people there
also is that all that its about the numbers or do you guys want quality.
myself I would like to have 3 people with good answers over 300 noobs that cant spell car if you gave them the first 3 letters.
now please dont get me wrong I still come here and I still will and I know I havent gave any major contributions in the last 2 years but I see things going very wrong for you guys
just a suggestion not a bashing or anything ok but here
the people on here and the ones that were on here not only love there cars but they are in love with there cars.
they are the odd type of people that will go hungry in order to buy a good aftermarket product for there cars.
and a few crazy asses like me that will actually get into a "mental funk" if not turning a wrench.
when there was no aftermarket for our cars there was the pioneers on this site and others but alot on here that went on the line and did the R&D in order to produce an aftermarket for our cars and then passed the info to everyone else for free
and some of those pioneers are now gone
also notice that for posts that go back years we have mentioned "our" cars
we will treat your car like my car like anyone elses car thats how much we care.
now no one on here wants to be sold,yes we want a great product like everyone else but if it means paying a little more to go with a proven product with a company that will treat us well than thats what its about
the "hook up" with the oem nissan dealer we had on here was great I mean yes some things were high priced yes it was out of state for most of us but we went to him time after time again because he knew what we wanted and he knew how to treat us well.
and the manufacture sponserd group buys we had,we got a great deal on proven equipment and made these companys alot of money it was a win win all cause we were treated like family.
now will we get that kind of personalized attention and that kind of care in the long term from the new owners and please no mubo jumbo crap please be straight with us
it will not hurt any cause this is a well respected site and the numbers are there and there will always be people to replace the ones that leave
all we want is honesty and I understand nothing stays the same but please understand that we were and are a family and if we have to leave to allow you sucess in your bussiness venture fine just let us know now if we should.

These "whiners" DON'T have a good reason to whine! Explain to me how they do...show me some proof...give me a few good reasons...the only thing that "happened" was the site was down for a bit.
This is the nature of life...companies buy and sell all the time...it happens to every forum. These new guys aren't doing anything to this site so everyone just f*ing chill and come back once YOU'VE settled your nerves.

Actually quite the opposite - we have been registering record traffic levels on the site, and in increase in the number of daily posts. The community is getting stronger, and i think we actually may have weeded out a few of the whiners who have left.
wait wait wait, are you going by statistics, or are you actually observing the forum? there haven't been many new posts at all, and since the online user thing at the bottom is gone, all we know is what you tell us. and calling people whiners is kind of immature, just say the unhappy users. think about it now, you're in charge of nf, atleast set a good example.

Hey people, I know Im getting in the middle of this but I think the points are still the same and theres no sense in getting all uptight about everything.
1.I understand 100% the negative reaction towards the af migrate. ya we screwed up and the site was down for a few days but its back to the way it was... same people same look. there have been minor changes with the ads but no matter who the owner was/is that sort of thing would have always changed.... it just so happened that it was right after our mistake.
2. people leaving because of the new ownership does not make much sense to me... why where they here? because of the ads or the people in the community(I understand the bitterness towards verticalscope if thats the reason)? because ultimately the ads are the only things that we will be changing, as for everything else rob has left it up to the members in the community to make change... if at all, and I will be here to help implement any decisions.
3. myself as a member in numerous forums I have seen alot of noobs and depending on my mood I may help them or I may ignore them. for every 20 members you may see 18 noobs, 1 loser that needs to be banned and 1 member that may become an assett to the community... whatever,,,, who knows right?
Ultimately the new ownership will be benificial to the members since we have numerous people concentrating on the site at any given time and the manpower to implement any suggestions, contests, mag features, site updates, event coverage,, the list goes on.
So if you are here for offtopic or any other specific forum, go there, its the same off topic that its always been. If you feel you want to utilize any of the added features "chosen and approved by the community"... enjoy! We will not be charging people to use the site at any point. This always has been and always will be a free site for the users.
Ive stayed out of this thread for a bit because I dont really have much to say. Im somewhat in the middle of opinions and am not here to talk about what happened other than we know we are wrong. Rather I am here to recover, make ammends, and help the Admins/mods/members get the community back to normal and then get things rolling with things on the site you may have always wanted to do... updates, edits, contests, whatever. I dont know what they are, so it will be up to you to do what you want with the site and let me know what you need me to take care of.

well I appreciate that it is back to it's normal state, and a few things will need to be debuged, as ghey as it sounds, life has it's ups and downs and people will come and go. I skimmed most of this and these "whiners" that are talked of should be none of anyone's concern except maybe the people in charge of the forum. Yes whiners are whiners, and if some of the weaker members can't handle it, they become hypocrates and whine about whiners. This is in no way a flame to anyone fyi... My $.02
