Mike who? A lot of ppl have left, moved on to do somehting else.
I think he meant Mike Young.
Did I miss the announcements for this changeover/downtime? Was there any warning? I'm not being sarcastic, but if there was no official warning then wtf? Anyway, glad the board is back up.
I'm glad to see this site returned to its previous format. I have used this site very extensively to research repair and modification related info for my 3rd Gen Nissan Maxima. This car needed new fuel injectors, exhaust system, and waterpump and timing belt. The idea of how to troubleshoot the problem with the fuel injection system in a cost effective manner came from this site, and I thank all the members here for literally saving me thousands of dollars in fees I would have had to spend to diagnose problems.
There are many mechanics out there that perform a "subsitute parts" as their trial-and-error approach, but unfortunately, at the expense of the owner. They charge for their time and labor and un-necessary parts whether your older gen car needed them or not. It is thanks to sites like this one, with many hobby mechanics and very knowledgeable members are able to learn some basic diagnostic skills, if not a logical approach to troubleshooting methodology, that lets them keep their older cars and trucks in top shape, while also learning basic auto knowledge.
I'm not saying this site is a replacement for somebody to not to go to an auto-mechanic, and there are many fine automechanics and honest ones too; I simply mean that knowledge sharing about repairs and modifications helps out many enthusiasts to keep their cars in good shape and understanding cars and not just treating them as "magic black boxes" is what keeps people loving cars and keeps enthusiasm up.
Keep up the good work and let's keep this site the way it is, a great exchange of information and knowledge.

This site does have a wealth of information and knowledge, but it also HAD a sense of family and friends. I was here daily for those reasons. The friends and family now seem to be dispersed over various different sites, and I have chosen to go with them. I will still post here, but only to help fellow Nissan enthusiasts, not to support the new ownership.

I just don't want to see anything change. I've invested a lot of time in this forum and to have it brought down by a single screw up of management would be horrible.

i have not invested my money in the site yet! but i will pretty soon.. anyway i love this site..not only because its a ishload of help but also because i can help other.. and you get to talk to some great people!!!! and it is awesome to see not only young kids are here discussing about their rides.. when you go to a honda forum all you read is wat kind of fart can they want to use on their stolen b18 swaps.. (im from jersey) no bubble back, here is legit.. or has a purchased engine.. i love nissan forums and i became attached to it.. it became a part of my everyday routine.. morning afternoon.. just like getting dressed checking the email and bidding on ebay.. (oh and if there was a way to rate users watson would def get all my votes.. because the man finds time for his wife his house his job.. and still has time to help all of us out..HAHA AND LETS NOT FORGET time to buy his wife a saturn!!!)
I don't think people should leave. Just when it gets tricky you go running?
We also don't need an sr20, maxima, b15, etc. etc. forums. We need just one that shares all the users and knowledge.
If those databases could be archived and have all the users plug in to one major forum that would be the best for everyone (searching would give lots of results and you'd have a central place for all things nissan).
Guys there have been a lot of questions raised which i'm going to try to answer here...
1) what is the future of Nissan Forums?
Nissan Forums will continue to run in its current format, and design for the long-term.
2) what is the future of Auto Forums?
AutoForums will become a totally distinct and separate product. There will be no tie-in between AF and NF. They will be separate products.
3) what is our goal in buying Nissan Forums?
We are looking to build the community, and sell advertising on the site. We will not over-run the site with ads, but will keep the same banner positions that have always been here. The difference is, rather than seeing Google AdSense you may see ads from Stillen, Castrol, Nissan North America, etc. You will likely also see the added benefit of their techs and engineers being on the boards.
4) did we lose some members?
Yes we did. Some people don't want to be a part of the community any longer. However, we believe that many new and extremely knowledgable people will also be added to the community.
5) what about contributor accounts?
Contributors will continue to receive their benefits. We have been having troubles getting the board back to normal, as the flood of new members, and improved servers have taken some work from Scott the Admin.
Hopefully that answers most of your questions. Let me know if you have any others.
Yeah, and so why did all the Ads get replaced today? I see new AD in OBTRUSIVE positions on the front page. Way to not move em. What else is going to be lies?
I am surprised you would find that "intrusive"
We have not added any more positions - we still have one at the top, and one at the bottom.
Perhaps it is impossible to please everyone. We felt the ad was similar to the old one that was running.
hey wtf happened to the members classified section.. none of them work
We are working with the admin to get the site fully functional again. We just did a software upgrade. This isn't the way we would have wanted things, but with the extra traffic, crashed server, etc, we are re-building.

I am not seeing how those ads are obtrusive to anything ?
when I start having to click through pop-ups to view pages here, I'll be right beside everyone bitching, until then, I don't have a problem with any of the advertising.
I don't come here to look at advertising anyways. I frequent here because I like the forums and I like the people that are here.
