I am thinking of purchasing a maxima and I am stuck between an 01 SE anniversary edition and an 02 SE. I want the 5/6 speed manual option.... is there anything I should know about either one as far as what to stay away from? I have found a nice 01 but I'm wondering if i should be patient for a nice 02. i'm torn between the engine/trans differences between the two years.... any opinions are greatly appreciated!

I have an '01 SE 20th and I love it. very few problems and it is a fun and fast car. I do wish that I had held out for the '02 6 speed though. It has the 3.5 L instead of the 3.0 and has the 6 speed instead of the 5 speed. Plus I think the outside looks nicer. Headlights, Taillights, grille... hold out for the '02.

are the headlights/taillights interchangable between the years? 01/02? The problem i'm running into is that it is hard to find a cherry 02 with the 6speed in it.... i found a real nice one owner 01...

is the power difference between the 3.0 vs 3.5 that noticeable using the ol butt dyno?

Headlights/taillights are interchangable.. headlights require a bit more work.. but they are. As for power difference.. YES. I have a 3.0 and my cousin has a 3.5 and it's quicker. 3.5's have lighter internals as well as a bigger displacement and more HP/TQ.
