Bose Speakers to be Replaced?

I have a 03 Maxima, and am looking to replace the radio and CD player since the CD player is skipping and I want to have a direct iPod connection. I have the standard Bose system. When I went to store today to replace the stereo, they informed me that I would have to replace all my speakers also. Is this standard?

elbyde..no need to replace speakers. I had left fnt channel probs (intermittent with CD only) on my '03 with Bose 6 disc system. I bought from Crutchfield a nice Alpine system with the iPod connections for right at the repair cost of the Bose factory sys. It sounds much better than the factory system too.

Factory speakers work fine so long as the correct adaptors are used (which was part of the Crutchfield package).

Go for it.

if cd reciever skips just try using cleaning cd any electonics store has it Hope it helps

It wasn't a skip. My issue was the left front speaker came in and out but only when using the CD. It worked fine with the radio. CD cleaning was of no help. Looking at various stereo repair sites confirmed this is a common problem with this Bose system. I'm much happier with the Alpine system anyway.
