over heating/ no heat

I've been driving myself insane with my 00 maxima. 1st is was over heating drove me crazy put 2 thermostat from the local parts store and both were bad (bleed hole was in wrong place) bought oem nissan that solved the problem. now I have no heat checked water pump, rad, and even had dye check for head gasket, everything checked out can hear gurggling in the heater core which leads me to believe air in the system. I have tried to bleed the system and still no air called one of the mechanics that i new from local nissan dealer he told me to jack cars front end up as high as I can get it and let it run with out the cap on it should let all the air work its way out of system. I'm in the process of doing this now and will follow this post up with results when I figue it out.

UPDATE; I did as he suggested jack the car up and there was massive air in the system it sucked down almost whole gal of coolant, car had heat, great heat took it home shut it off went out a few hours later no heat again! I very perplexed going to have cooling system flushed tomorrow as I think the problem is the heater core may be plugged as the previous owner may have had a radiator problem and put "bars leaks" in the system. Again I will update with solution.
F.Y.I. When bleeding the air from the system you need to jack the front of the car as high as you can get it I had the top of rad' approx. 48" in the air, leave cap off and let car run this could take upwards of 2 hours making sure to keep radiator full this is very messy because it will overflow when a large bubble comes out, I put a small funnel with a rag around the base to serve as a seal in the top of the rad and kept it half full so when air came out it sucked in more coolant and also helped with overflows.
