My 2001 Maxima started making a weird sound when I shut off the engine. As soon as the engine turns off, there is a sound that kind of sounds like an actuator moving back and forth like 4 or 5 times and then there is a quiet slow grinding noise right after for about 2 seconds. It sounds like it is coming from near the starter. I noticed there is a motor looking thing right underneath the brake fluid combination valve, right above the starter, anyone know what that is? Any idea what could be making the new noise?

Sounds like the rear motor mount is going bad?! If not, it could be your electronic throttle body?
