Cool Dealer Parts or OEM

Sup everyone! The time has come for me to change my worn out parts from my 2000 Maxima SE. I need to change my shocks & ball joints. I've owned the car for about 6 years and I'm up to 115K. I have to admit, this car has treated me good. I've gotten a good 6 years out of the original parts. NOW! My question is; should I go OEM or run over to the dealer and pay a "pretty penny" for their parts? Considering how long the dealers parts lasted, I'm quite skeptical about OEM products. Any info would help me on making my decision. Thank you in advance.

Pay the "pretty penny", not that OEM isnt good quality, but like you said - you got 6 years out of the originals and already know the quality. IMO, thats your best bet. I dont buy OEM unless I have to, and thats after doing all the homework on the part/parts needed.

I have to ask, what's your definition of the difference between the "Dealer" and "OEM"? Or do you mean equivalent? Z

You can buy from online dealers for cheaper than in-store dealers...in most cases.

Dealer parts is OEM... Dealers prefer to sell Nissan OEM parts... although some parts are remanufactured... such as brake calipers and so on. But I'm sure you can buy brand new ones too, just cost a whole lot more. As for struts, they would be OEM or "dealer parts" like the ones that came on the car originally. I think OEM "dealer part" is KYB.

For shocks, grab KYB GR2's if they're cheaper...
