4th slipping out of gear

I have a 2000 Maxima 5 speed man. and recently 4th gear would occasionally pop out. Now it will not stay in gear unless you hold it in. Everything else appears to be normal. Any ideas on what this might be.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I heard also from friends-probably the detent or forks. I imagine that constitutes a rebuild since you would have to pull tranny to fix above.
