Question MAX vs. TL-s

What's good my nissan peoples?? I know this topic has surely been discussed be4, but i'm new here!
My boy just bought a 2003 TL type S which he'll be picking up on Wed. night. I drive an 02 MAX SE (AUTO) with an Injen CAI. So my boy said the 1st thing he wants to do is come by and smoke my baby.

Do you guys think I can take him????

Holla back!!

If you're heading to a proper quarter-mile timed racetrack, it'd be close. IIRC both should pull similar quarter mile times... your 4-speed automatic and lack of high-end power really hurt you, particularly in top-end acceleration. Whereas the 5-speed automatic and better high-end power in the TL-S are helped by the TL-S's slightly higher redline as well.

The TL-S's 5-speed automatic theoretically gives it closer spacing between gears, although the 5th gear in the TL-S is very tall, so in reality I think the first four gears are spaced similar to the ones in your Maxima. So it's the fact that the TL-S makes better high-end power which ultimately helps its acceleration compared to your Maxima.

I think it'll depend heavily on the launch. Your better midrange power really only shines through in first gear, after all.

I definately see what you're saying. If I'm not mistaken, I thought I read somewhere that the maxima had better quarter mile and 0-60 times. I guess there's only one way to find out!!!! Thanks for the feedback!
