Just bought an 02 GLE...what to look for?

Hey guys...this is my first post. I bought a 2002 Maxima GLE less than a week ago. It had 14,321 miles when I picked it up so it is still pretty new. I was just wondering if there are any common problems with these cars that I should look out for.

I have already found they they eat through brake pads and rotors...rotors especially. I have to bring it back soon to have the brakes serviced already because I found that the rotors are extremely scored already. Can anybody suggest some inexpensive but good aftermarket replacements for the rotors and pads?

Thanks in advance guys.

(By the way, I did a search to find some of these answers but was not satisfied with the answers I got so thats why I posted here.)

Coil packs I think are fairly solid by 2002...

Umm, the usual. Thin paint that chips off the moment a pebble even thinks about hitting it... interior squeaks and rattles... axle tramp and stuff on rough roads due to the beam rear suspension...

www.mattblehm.com for some bigger OEM brakes?

I agree with Brian here... I've had my 02 for over 3 years now and have had no coil issues and my paint on the hood is chipping like crazy.

As for brakes, I'm at 44K miles (bought the car new with 41 miles on it) and am still using the original pads and rotors that came with the car. The fact that I engine brake a lot may have something to do with that. If ya want an upgrade, I'd say check out Matt Blehm's caliper relocation kit for use with 04-05 rotors or just get the entire 6th Gen brake kit. I've heard only good things about those and that Matt is a good guy to deal with.
