1997 maxima making weird noises

i have a 97 maxima and ive been hearing these weird noises and i mechanic told me it was the axel, so i recently just changed the axel. but now i've been hearing the same noises the axel was making before like a cranking noise, and lately ive been hearing a weird squeaking noise at times. Does anyone have an idea or what area to look at?

Maybe wheel bearings?
Do you feel any kind of grind in the steering wheel?
Can you determine if it is a certain wheel or area the sound is coming from?

No. The wheel turns smoothly, I dont feel any grind. It just the squeaking and cranking noise I hear. And the noise is on and off, I will hear it for a couple of minutes and then it will disappear. Someone suggested it might be the ball joints. Does it sound accurate?

Sounds like something to do with the suspension area...or maybe one of your brake calipers are sticking a little?
