1996 Maxima Problem (Dont know what to do)

Hey, I hope someone can help me. I have a 96 maxima and it will not stay on. If i give the car a jump start with my friend's car it will stay on until i take off the jumper cables. I also finish replacing the alternator, but unfortunately one of the harness cable that goes into the alternator plug broke. I still feel that this may not be the problem. Also, as soon as the car shuts off and i take the cables off, the car dies ( if i switch it on, nothing comes on). Can someone help me?

You say you broke a wire to the alternator? That is not good, what color was the wire? Depending on the broken wire, if that does not fix it you need to figure out when the last time was you replaced your battery. Once a battery goes bad it will not hold a charge, and will create the same symptoms that you are expressing. But your first focus should be on fixing the broken wire to the altenator. If it's black it's a ground and I would try starting your car again unless you plan on replacing a fried wiring harness.
