Unhappy I bought a max, but I don't know the model

I've just bought a 95 maxima. the owner told me that he think it is GLE(he don't know for sure), but when I look at all the documents now, I can't see anything about the model. I've looked at the photoes of max95, I can't tell the difference between GLE and GXE.

The GLE is the more luxary model. they have a sunroof and leateher seats. As well as part of the dash is wood grain. The GXE is the base model.

I'm in the exact same boat with my '95. The only thing I've ever needed to know when ordering parts is whether or not it has ABS. Other than that, it's never made a difference, other than knowing for personal piece of mind.

GXE=base model (and lightest)
GLE= Luxury;chrome door handles,leather,sometimes wood grain dash,plastic hubbies,usually no spoiler and brake light is in rear windshield
SE=stiffer suspension,no speed limiter,body color door handles,foglights,spoiler,on 95-96 it'd have 'sawblade' steel wheels 97-99 have 5 spoke alloys.

Hope this helps.

I believe the GXE (base model) has chrome trim around the windows and the door handles are chrome. So if you have an auto and don't have the chrome, you have a GLE (loaded max).

No, both GXE and GLE have chrome trim. So chrome trim and leather means GLE, Chrome and no leather means GXE, and no chrome means SE.

Terran, your right about the chrome trim, but the GXE can have leather.

ertu, If you have Automatic Climate Control you have a GLE. IF you dont then its a GXE. Automatic Climate Control is the only thing standard on the GLE that's not available as an option on the GXE.
