If you aren't worried about performance then I'd say go for it. A 60-series tire will be 'floaty' feeling and the speedometer will be off by about 4mph. You aren't going to hurt anything on the car by going with the 60-series.

Yes I am getting a better deal. The regular 215/55/16 tires that I want are about $65 a tire. if I go up one profile size (215/60/16), theyre $45. Probably because stock sizes sell a lot more then the unusual non OEM sizes.
The reason I ask is for a second opinion. I spoke to Luke at tire rack who said
"under normal straightline driving they [60's series] would be fine but, when the suspension is compressed or you turn sharp they would most likely rub against the car"
I'm sure he knows tires well but I'd actually like a real world opinion of someone who has done the "sharp turns" and "compressed" the suspension and could tell me if the tires actually do rub.
