The engine would definitely last 200k and beyond depending on how well taken care of the car is.
I'm not too sure on the price. Most earlier 4th gens that I have seen go for $4k and up. I think there may be more things wrong than he's willing to tell you.
If you go check it out make sure you check both cv axles in the front...making sure the cv boots aren't cracked or leaking oil. Take the car for a drive. Turn down the radio and listen for weird suspension sounds when going over bumps. Make sure the shifts are smooth if auto...
These are all typical things you should do when buying any car...there really aren't any 'definite' things to check for on Maximas. If it is a 5spd then make sure everything works...no grinding noises...no clunking into/out of gear.
Hope this helps somewhat...just to recap though I'd be kind of weary of the price. It seems a little low.
