How Hard is a stick swap?

I recently came to own a 99 Maxima GLE. I like it so far with the sunroof leather interior and bose stereo. My biggest complaint with the car is the automatic transmission. I hate automatics and I hate the lag that comes when you put your foot down.I'd prefer to do the shifting myself. I've read very little about transmission swaps but was wondering if it's possible to take a manual tranny and swap it in. I was also wondering if anyone would be willing to give me some resources as to where I can find a manual tranny, brake pedal clutch pedal, clutch assembly ect. for the car. I'm assuming I could probably buy it from Nissan but that would probably end up being rediciliously expensive. Any feedback is appricated.

let's just say it ain't nothin quick... it's doable and a number of people have done it, but it's not a weekend project.

and actual 4th gen Maxima's with 5spd are pretty hard to find... oh well
