intake

i have the stillen intake. I have a 1999 Maxima SE. The chrome backing on the filter has a hole in it. Is there a sensor that needs to be put in that hole? I notice a sensor on the air scoop that is up front above the radiator. Can I take the scoop off and plug that sensor on the scoop into the filter?

is that hole just open? that's a very bad thing as it's defeating the purpose of your filter... generally the intake systems made for the max are made for the air sensor. If it fits, that's exactly what it's for. Once you get an intake you should remove all the plastic from your stock intake. All it's doing is adding weight..

Ya, I put the license sticker over the hole...for now.
I would remove that blasted air scoop, but it has a sensor on it, and I dont know where I'd mount that sensor without the scoop, also dont know if that will mess up my ECU like the MAF would if you were to remove it and start the engine..I learned recently how to reset my ECU, so I'll just try doing so and if it f***s up, then just reset it.

You can put the sensor off the scoop next to the air filter...that's what I do with mine and I have -0- problems.

Do you think the sensor off the scoop would fit into that hole on your intake? If so then put it there instead of next to the intake cone.

If your filter has a hole in it,then it's for the 95-96 model, cause the 97-99 doesn't have a hole on it,but you can try to put that sensor from the scope into the hole on the filter if it fit,if not then just plug it up with a bold and washer or even duck tape will work.

Well,if you do that, then be careful when you clean your filter,or unless you can remove it for cleaning.Either way is good.

there is a rubber gasket and sensor that sould be taken off the stock intake and placed on your aftermarket. the intake should have 2 vacume hoses and the hole for the sensor if i remember correctly.

good luck

i tried that gasket but it seemed too big of a diameter to fit in the hole along with the sensor squeezed inside. maybe i can find some sort of rubber-type washer or something in the future. thanks though!
as for cleaning my filter, piece of cake!
