it'll fit... a lot of people claim that it won't clear the hood, but one our guys in houston (HNE & d_warner <-- same person) put a 5th gen strut tower bar on his 4th gen and it barely rubs the hood and it sits higher than the motor in the 5th gen, SO, that might be an urban legend.

either way, this is what the ORG says...

Another thing to consider is the harness... the harnesses for the motors are quite different....The Ecu is also different. The intake manifold is different, so things like you'r eintake won't fit.

Your exhaust parts will not fit either, the exhaust manifold won't line up...

all in all, just go get a vq30de... much simpler.

4th gen max -- VQ30DE
2k, 2k1 -- VQ30DEK

the K represents the intake manifold basically... rumor has it that you can not take that intake manifold and put it on the 4th gen motor. our option for an upgraded intake manifold is the MEVI.

The bottom end on the VQ30DE-K is also different IIRC.

Actually Joffe, from what I hear, the cams are more docile on the DEK. The 4th gen cams are more radical. The improvement is coming from the composite variable intake and the exhaust manifolds from what I've read. I have heard that the 5th gen intake doesn't just open and close like an MEVI, but is truely variable. It will open half way about half way up the RPM range, and then the runners open more at high RPMs. As for the fitment issue, there are several problems.

If you are going to continue using your stock tranny, there may be a problem there. Your ECU will be correct for your tranny, but not the motor. If you change out the ECU, then it will be correct for the motor, but not the tranny. I think the easiest way would be to get a VQ30DEk with a 5th gen 5-speed, and do the swap from there. I'm currently venturing in another direction for my buildup, but thats a whole nother story.
