I have a 98 GXE 5speed with 116K on it. The past couple of days my car has been getting harder to shift....its not smooth any more when going from gear to gear, but you have to fight it a little to get it in gear. i am not having problems with gears poping out rather just having trouble getting it in gear. All gears are all the same when trying to shift. 5th is just as hard a 1st to shift into.....does anyone have a clue what this is? I am thinking I need to change my gear oil....I have never changed it, and have no clue if the previous owner changed it....I bought the car with 90K on it....any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Carson
you might consider just changing the tranny fluid... redline is always some good stuff. they recommend it's done at the 60k service, but if you haven't owned the thing the life of the car, it might be a good idea to change... couldn't hurt, that's for sure.

It's not the synchros if it's just as hard to get into 1st as 5th like he said.
It's surely the tranny fluid.... Redline Mt90 is pricey...
Amsoil 75W90 can be had cheaper
or if you wanna go cheaper... you can just go get generic 75W90 GEAR OIL from an auto shop.
The advantage of redline is that it saves wear and tear on the synchros by reducing friction. It also has an additive that does not deteriorate the metal that the synchros are made of. Some of the cheaper fluids that are generic may wear the coating on the synchros.
Anyhoo... change that shit... if u wanna DIY.... pull the reverse sensor... it's like right under the battery, circular, and has a 10mm bolt attaching it to the tranny... drain the fluid that way...
then, on the side of the casing, there is a spot where u can take a 1/2 drive ratchet and remove the fitting, and fill it with gear oil till it starts dripping out. Done.
yeah after doing more research I think i will go with redline mt-90, I think it will be worth it in the long run....I will let everyone know how it goes after I sell one of my brothers inorder to affort the redline.
