weird AC issues

I am having problems with the AC. When it is hot out especially, it will not start for anything. Only after some driving (especially if I stomp the gas) it comes on. The weird thing is it not only does it on maximum cold, but even if I turn it up to the middle or higher. Does it simply need recharged or is something going wrong?
Help me out, I am sweatin' my ass off in there!!!!!

The fan doesn't come on, or is the air just hot?

the fan doesn't come on. There is no air blowing at all. Yesterday I went to chicago (3hr trip) and after 1hr of messing with it (turning it on and off) it kicked on. It has been progressively getting worse for about a month now.

no, it blows barely on manual 1, the higher I go the less comes out. And when I switch to auto (which blasts it to 4 on a high day) it totally shuts down and nothing comes out. Even if I turn it up to max heat it is still dead. Then I drive for a while and turn it on and off manually, after a long time comes on - SLOWLY.
That's some weird shit! I just hope I don't have a serious problem...

So your A/C only work on low speed(1) or is it not working at all?If it only work on a single speed, then look to me like it's your fan motor resistor(control fan speed)was bad.If it doesn't work at all on any speed then it could be your fan motor.Hope this help and good luck.

Ive had a similar problem with my a/c, but unlike yours the fan would only turn on on speed 4. Therefore it was either 0 or 4. Like 96_vgmax said it was the blower motor resistor which is located under your glove box. I replaced it and the fan turns on using all speeds. I wonder if it would work if you change the resistor. Let me know
