Filter Question

My little brother just picked up a 96 Maxima GLE. He isnt worried about speed or anything like that. I want him to throw a filter on there because Ive heard Max's w/ a after market filter and they sound mean. Where can he go about getting one and how much would it run him?

You could buy one off of eBay (cheapest)...but don't expect K&N quality. If you do buy off of eBay then make sure the adapter comes with it. You'll definitey need it. eBay is about the easiest way to get one, unless you check the For Sale section of Maxima.org to see if there's one available there (probably not though).

Are you kidding me...of course there is a sound difference w/ a drop in filter. Weapon R is crap...I was asking about the K&N.

Ouch man.... with the maxima, there really isn't any sound difference with a drop in, but with a [url=http://www.frankencar.com/FrankenCar[/url] short ram intake or even a simple pop charger you can find on ebay, the noise does get much meaner.

I'm sorry man... I totally apologize.... you are right, the cone K&N does do a lot and gives it a great sound! The drop-in really doesn't do anything and doesn't change the sound.

sorry for the confusion man.... just a miscommunication.

I spent about 30 bucks on Ebay. I bout one for a 3rd gen max, and drilled the holes on the adapter to fit. You can ask any of the Dallas or Houston guys about sound. Its awesome.
