Unhappy My Big Problem

Hello, allow me make a quick introduction. My name is Josh, and I'm a Maxima owner from PA. I'd like to share my story with you in hopes that someone will be able to assist me.

About November of 2006 I purchased a 1998 Automatic Maxima from a small dealership for about 3200. It had 117000 miles on it. Beautiful car; power seating, moon roof, cd player, basically everything I needed. Was not very fond on the color, which is champagne gold. It was my first car purchase with my own money and I was only 18. I put about 1000 into the car as far as a System and just interior modifications I thought was neat (glow gages) etc. Yeah it was lame now that I look back on it. I drove it everywhere all the time. I was in love with it. I drove it to Pittsburgh multiple times, to NYC and even to Utah and back. When I bought the car I noticed it would jolt a little in transition between first and second gear. I didn't really think much of it and my father who was concerned about it let it go. Around late December (almost 2 months after the purchase) I would warm the car up in the early mornings and then put it in drive, the car would shut off. This was my first problem with the car. I immediately called my father at work and my buddies and told them about it and everyone came to the conclusion that it was just because of the cold and I had to let the liquids heat up more before heading out, which seemed to solve the problem. I didn't really know much about cars, but I know I loved this one. January of 07 comes around and it seemed like the transition jolt between first and second got more noticeable and more forceful. I had a few people ride in the car and drive it and almost all of them said it was nothing to worry about. I knew it was something in the transmission and my dad was highly concerned but Then about late February of 07 a week after I got back from Utah with 130,000 miles, I was sitting at a red light and when I went to pull away the car just revved. The transmission was gone. I was devastated. I quickly learned that to fix the problem it would cost me some 2300 dollars. I didn't have nearly enough money. I relied on my car for everything. To put it in a better perspective, I had no money and my dad didn't have any money to help me with or let alone buy another one. So the car sat and I became a stress case. I had to walk everywhere. My money from work went to bills, rent and skateboard fines I had to pay off which totaled nearly 600 dollars. I had to cancel mt cell phone plan which made things suck a lot.

Enough about complaining. About a month ago from today I had everything payed off and enough money to buy a used to tranny which I found at a junkyard. It had 60,000 miles on it for 400 dollars. I had it installed for about 150 and replaced a few things on the car. Today when I went to happily pick it up and drive it home, what do you know it the same jolt occurred in the shifting. My dad took it for a drive to feel the jolt. It was yet another let down. During the drive we got a flat tire on the rear and when changing the tire one of the bolt busted in half. I don't know what I should do anymore. There is a 30 day warranty on the tranny which ends February 3rd.

Please tell me what you think and let me know what your opinion or recommendations are. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

if it was mine, i would try and get the trans replaced under warranty. this is assuming that there is something actually wrong with the shifting. after everything you had to deal with to get the car back on the road you might be putting it under a microscope. other then that just drive it till it breaks again.

try your transmission (dropping) resistor...I have a 96 maxima that was shifting hard and I replaced this and now it shifts like a dream. Costs 50 bucks and is located in the front side of the left strut(right by the air filter). hope that helps!
