95 Nissan Maxima SE randomly cuts off

Hello everyone,

I was trying to get some insite on what could be causing my maxima to randomly loose all power when driving or stopping at a light. It doesnt do it all the time just randomly. Sometimes I can drive it for 2 or 3 months just fine, then sometimes it'll cut off 2 or 3 times a day. I had a shop (goodyear) try to read the car as the check engine light is on, but they said they were unable to communicate with the car to run the diagnostics. Any suggestions?

If you've got a CEL, definitely get it checked. Autozone or whatnot can probably do it too, or go to vbxmaxima.8m.com (I think that site is still up) and follow the instructions there-- which are taken from the FSM-- to pull the code.

They probably suck. Try the procedure on vbxmaxima.8m.com and see what it results. He even has a trouble code search on there.
