95 GLE oil Problem

I am a newbie to the site with a 95 GLE (190,000 miles) that had an oil leak. It went pretty dry and I put 4 quarts of 5W30 in to drive home. About 15 miles later, I was dry again and added 4 more quarts. not sure where all of the oil is going. Just getting started at this and could use the help with any suggestions. Thanks from an amateur in need.

Eeek. If you're leaking that much oil, just get down under the car and look for the massive oil slick!

Then get some towels, wipe it down, and see where oil is seeping out of. Sounds like you've got something pretty major under there.

That just the thing, it isn't leaking that much. I am now reading full on the oil stick and the slow drip is there. I ran it for a while in the driveway and it now just overheats. The temperature gauge goes from the middle to hot fast. It smells like oil burning and I have a slight smoke coming out of the exhaust. Could it just be antifreeze or a thermostat problem??? Any hints?

Have a shop look at it. Sounds like you're not sure what's happening AND you have what may be *several* problems... do the fans come on when it gets hot?

If the oil's not going on the ground are you having issues getting a proper reading off the dipstick? Is the smoke white, blue,or...?
