Scan Tool

Does anyone have a suggestion for reasonable priced scan tool I can purchase for my Nissan Maxima 97? I have the check engine light on because of a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) problem (code P0510). The code was given to me by a shop.

I will replace the TPS but would like to have a scan-tool for future use and clear the code.

if ur gonna spend on a scan tool I would suggest go almost all the way and buy a $600. there is no sense in gettin a $100 one cause they suck (thats what I think). They will give you info on a check engine light, but when you have another problem and the light doesnt come on, the scan tool wont give you any information. plus when you buy the $600 one it will come with adapters and such.

depends on how much you want to spend and what you plan to do with it.

If you have a laptop already with a serial or USB port, you can buy an OBD-II scan program online for around $100 and it will come with the software and adaptors you need.

If you want a standalone scan tool, you can spend anywhere from $100 to $10,000... all depends on what you want to do with it.
