Ah, 2 relays...might be the problem! I'll try cleaning the switch contacts first... Also, fits in with my question about manuals - a good Shop Manual would show me if there were 1 or 2 relays.
I know the bigger tires will make the tall problem worse - that's what concerns me. The only "saving grace" I can see is that iirc the ratio for the automatic was higher than the standard - perhaps this truck used to be an auto, and they changed the tranny but not the rear-end? If so, maybe I can find the gears for the std. tranny at a wreckers...
