I was also wondering, do you think it could have something to do with the timing belt/chain or how can you tell if it's gone bad or broken without pulling the engine out to get to the cover?

Also, if the plugs are dry, it's safe to go ahead with the fuel pump replacement? I did the tune-up about a month ago.
